About
Shauna Nelson graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 1992. She brings more than 32 years of experience in geriatric rehabilitation and joined Total Balance in 2024. Shauna is registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and is licensed to practice in both North Dakota and Minnesota. She is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and is certified in LSVT BIG and BIG for LIFE for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.
As a member of Total Balance’s Mobile Rehab team, Shauna enjoys the flexibility of providing occupational therapy in patients’ home environments, allowing her to deliver care that is practical, personalized and meaningful. Her approach is rooted in compassion, encouragement and a good sense of humor. She believes building genuine relationships with her patients is just as important as helping them improve their function, independence and overall quality of life.
Shauna is especially passionate about working with individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, other neurological conditions, dementia and lymphedema. She also enjoys helping people better understand the broad scope of occupational therapy, which supports not only physical function but also emotional, mental and social well-being.
Outside of work, Shauna enjoys spending time with her husband, Bryce, their two children and the rest of their family.
